Kim Kardashian looked super-skinny in a throwback bikini photo she posted on Instagram Feb. 5.
In the photo (center), Kim sports a tiny sequined bikini that accentuated her slender waist.
During
the past few months, Kardashian has openly lamented on Twitter and
Instagram that she wants to lose at about 15 pounds after having gained
some weight recently.
Last year, Kim credited a low-carb
ketogenic Atkins diet for her 56-pound weight loss just six months after
giving birth. Kardashian said her weight loss secrets also included
corset waist training, Examiner reported.
Waist training involves wearing a corset
for extended periods of time to make it smaller. Kim said she did waist
training in the weeks leading up to her May 2014 wedding to regain her
signature hourglass figure.
While it may sound odd,
waist-training, or the “Corset Diet,” is a weight loss trend some women
use to slim down their midsection. The Corset Diet can help women lose
up to six inches from their waists, said Vanna B, author of Waist Training 101.
Actress
Jessica Alba credited wearing double corsets for her dramatic post-baby
weight loss. Similarly, Brooke Burke Charvet said wearing a corset
fueled her weight loss after each of her four pregnancies.
In addition to waist training, Kim has credited rigorous workouts and
a low carb ketogenic style Atkins diet for her 56-pound post-baby
weight loss.
Focusing on healthy fats and going low-carb promotes
rapid weight loss by forcing the body to burn fat for fuel, said
obesity expert Dr. Eric Westman, co-author of Keto Clarity.
Kardashian’s
ketogenic Atkins diet consisted of 1,800 to 2,200 calories and limited
daily carb intake to less than 60 grams. Kim’s daily menu combined
proteins such as fish, chicken and meat and healthy fats like olive oil,
avocados and nuts.
Low-carb diets keep blood sugar levels stable
and prevent food cravings, which helps with mental clarity and boosts
mood, said Colette Heimowitz, author of The New Atkins Made Easy.
Dietitian
Dr. Jeff Volek, a professor at Ohio State University, agrees. “It was
nothing short of an epiphany when I changed to a ketogenic diet 20 years
ago,” Dr. Volek, author of the Art and Science of Low-Carbohydrate Living, told me. “I felt better, more satiated, and had more consistent energy.”
Kardashian
also exercised almost every day, combining rigorous cardio workouts
with strength-training and lots of squats. Kim is proud of the hard work
she has put in, and slammed rumors that she got weight loss or other
plastic surgery to slim down.
